Hey peeps.

I did the whole card-flip thing to draw schedules.  I won’t be uploading it since I have to go somewhere now, but trust in my sk1llz and know I did not cheat.

Two things.

1.  The schedule and brackets are now final.  =)  Registration now absolutely, completely closed.

2.  Any conflict between IQA 4.0 rules and the rules posted previously will be resolved in favor of IQA 4.0 rules.  We are in the process of redrafting the tournament rules to better reflect a compliance with IQA 4.0 gameplay rules.

Accio Books!

Swamp Cup will be partnering with Power of Love, the UF Harry Potter Alliance chapter to collect books for the HPA’s third annual Accio Books drive.  We are asking for donations in the form of children’s books for the drive.

For those who don’t know, the Harry Potter Alliance is a non-profit organization that uses themes from the Harry Potter series to improve our world through social action. The HPA’s mission “is to empower [its] members to act like the heroes that they love by acting for a better world.”  Currently, the HPA is in the middle of a nine month campaign called the Deathly Hallows Campaign. Each month a new real life Horcrux is introduced that we are working to wipe out. Past Horcruxes have includes Starvation Wages where we wrote a petition to Time Warner asking them to ensure all chocolate associated with the Harry Potter name is Fair Trade (and received a response!), Bullying, where we teamed up with the Gay Straight Alliance helped raise awareness about bullying, especially in the LGBTQ community and with Marriage Equality Rhode Island to fight for marriage rights, and Body Bind where we fought social media’s idea of body image, by denouncing harmful body images, learning how to properly nourish the body and to get active. This month’s Horcrux revolves around Accio Books, a campaign run every March to promote literacy, love of story, and help a struggling community or school through donating books.

In past years, Accio Books has sent over 55,000 books to communities in Rwanda and the Mississippi Delta.  This year, the HPA is partnering with the Bedford-Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School (BSNBCS) in Brooklyn, NY to build the “Imagine Better” Library for their students.  The BSNBC school opened in September of 2010, without a library. They need books of all types including fiction, non-fiction, reference, historical, biographical, geography, science topics, including science fair ideas for their K-5 students.

Donations will be greatly appreciated!  We will have a box at the field to collect the donated books.
